About the National Capital Authority

The National Capital Authority is established under the Australian Capital Territory (Planning and Land Management) Act 1988 (the Act) and is a Statutory Agency in the Australian Public Service.

Staff of the NCA are engaged under the Public Service Act 1999 (Public Service Act). For the purposes of the Public Service Act:

  • the Chief Executive and the APS employees assisting the Chief Executive together constitute a Statutory Agency; and
  • the Chief Executive is the head of that Statutory Agency.

The staff of the NCA are engaged as either ongoing or non-ongoing employees under the Public Service Act in a full-time, part-time or casual capacity.

The majority of the NCA's employees work in the Treasury Building, King Edward Terrace, Parkes, ACT. The NCA also operates the National Capital Exhibition at Regatta Point and Blundells Cottage located in Kings Park, Wendouree Drive on the northern shore of Lake Burley Griffin.
